Farmer Maaike is in charge of the nature management on the farm.  Together with her team she has insured that the nature surrounding the farm has grown into the biggest public attraction.  Visitors wonder at the enormous variety of plants and flowers, especially when they learn that most things growing and blooming come up on their own, thanks to the carefully managed small ecosystem surrounding the farm.

The Eemlandhoeve participates in nature management:

• We delay hay-making to protect nesting birds of the field
• We place nest-protectors around the bird nests in the fields where cows are grazing
• We set aside and protect the edges of the ditches to promote the growth of a larger variety of plants

The farm also participates in ecological grounds management:

In a short time an amazing diversity of plants and trees have grown, and the farm is swarming with rare insects, bees, amphibians, birds and small mammals.  The diversity is so great that it has proved a challenge for nature enthusiasts to chart them all!

Finally, there are the vegetable gardens full of 'forgotten vegetables', potatoes, common vegetables and fruit.  The farm store clients enjoy this produce, along with a fixed group of clients that receive a vegetable packet during the growing season.  It is special to be able to observe this growing process from close by.
